Sporting boss Ruben Amorim reveals Viktor Gyokeres price amid Liverpool links

Sporting Lisbon’s manager Ruben Amorim has made it clear that any club looking to sign Viktor Gyokeres will need to meet the big fat release clause in his contract. This announcement comes amidst growing interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool, in the prolific Swedish striker who joined Sporting from Coventry City last summer.

That release clause is worth €100m. Here is what Amorim told CNN Portugal on clubs showing interest in securing the service of Gyokeres.

“Gyokeres is a great player and I think he’s worth 100 million euros. That’s the price he has and we have to go ahead with it. Whoever wants to (sign him) will have to pay 100 million euros.”

Gyokeres has been in scintillating form, scoring 50 goals and providing 18 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions since his arrival. Such an impressive tally has inevitably drawn attention from across Europe. However, despite Liverpool’s interest, it seems unlikely that the club will be willing to shell out the substantial sum required to secure his services.
