Sunderland Vs. Liverpool will be the last premier league fixture of 2015. Both teams will be looking to end the year with a positive result. Liverpool returned to their winning ways on boxing day against Leicester and will be looking for another win. Even though Sunderland got thrashed by Manchester City on Saturday, Sam Allardyce can give Klopp and his men a tough time at the Stadium of Light. In our last week’s three key player battles, Liverpool players were able to get the better of the Leicester players. Can they do it again on Wednesday? Here are three key player battles that could decide the game:
- Dejan Lovren Vs. Fabio Borini
“I want to score against Liverpool more than anyone”. These were the words of the former Liverpool man, Fabio Borini. The Italian striker has now scored in two consecutive games. His two goals came against Chelsea and Manchester City. The fact that he scored against two big guns of the premier league will be a huge confidence booster for him and he will be hoping to do the same against his former side. Even though none of the Liverpool players have reacted directly to Borini’s remarks, Lovren must have thought in his mind,”Bring it on!”. The Croatian returned to Liverpool’s starting eleven on Saturday against Leicester. There were many doubts over him, but he shut his critics by pocketing Jamie Vardy. Lovren will be high on confidence after receiving words of praise from the manager and fans. The battle between these players will be a fun to watch.
