Latest Liverpool news: Trent Alexander-Arnold uses Old Trafford defeat as “learning point”
Liverpool face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday with the result having a huge say on the Premier League title race.
The Reds are tied with Manchester City at the top of the table, and this is effectively their game in hand on the Cityzens.
A loss would be damaging to our title hopes and the last time we visited Old Trafford, Trent Alexander-Arnold had a woeful experience against Marcus Rashford. The Englishman tormented the Liverpool defender and scored twice in the tie
The Red Devils won that game last season but the Reds had bigger fish to fry with respects to the Champions League.
Fast forward almost a year and Alexander-Arnold claims he used that experience to hone his skills (h/t Guardian):
“I still use that game as a learning point.
“That is probably the best thing to do; look back on the harder games you’ve had, the tougher games, learn what I didn’t do well and what I could have done better.”
Avoiding a similar performance
The English youngster claimed he wasn’t disheartened after the game and used it as a learning step as his career progresses with the Reds.
The right-back added he needed that as motivation to prevent such performances from happening again.
Alexander-Arnold missed close to a month recently after picking up knee ligament damage, but returned to the starting XI in the 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich.

A draw would be a decent point against a tough Manchester United side, but three points would be a huge boost for us in the title race and a huge blow for City too.
