Liverpool set to visit Qatar in 2019 for FIFA Club World Cup

Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool to participate in Club World Cup hosted by Qatar

The Mirror reports that FIFA confirmed Qatar as the host for the 2019 and 2020 editions of the Club World Cup. The report adds that the tournament will feature seven teams for the time being, with 24 teams set to play from 2021.

The 2021 edition will see the tournament being held every four years, and the report claims that Qatar hosting the tournament is a test run for their World Cup preparations in 2022.

The tournament is normally held in December and it will be interesting to see how we deal with the extra games added to an already packed domestic schedule.

Qatar champions Al-Sadd, African champions Esperance de Tunis, Oceania’s Hienghene Sport and Mexico’s Monterrey will feature in the Club World Cup. (h/t Mirror).

The Asian and South American champions are yet to be finalised.

The Reds will try to lift their first Premier League title next season after coming close this time around, but will also feature in several other competitions.

The League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup will provide us with ample opportunities to win silverware.

Liverpool have never won the Club World Cup and this team is possibly the strongest we have had in the Premier League era.
