Liverpool FC transfer news: Jasper Cillessen could cost £55m as Reds seek Alisson back-up
The Liverpool Echo claims that Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen is a target for Liverpool.
The report adds that Jurgen Klopp is looking for a keeper as back-up for Alisson. The Brazilian signed for the Reds from AS Roma and helped us land the Champions League trophy a couple of weeks ago.
The 30-year-old was quoted by Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo) suggesting that he isn’t sure about his future:
“For the moment I don’t know what will happen, after this [Nations League] I will go on holiday with friends and we’ll see.”
The Dutch no.1 added that he wants to rest after a long season, and wants to forget about this season due to a couple of lost finals.
Big money required to sign the Dutch keeper
The Mirror (h/t Liverpool Echo) quotes Cillessen suggesting that Barcelona want £55m for the 30-year-old, and the Dutchman said he would consider his options after the summer:
“I’ll consider my options after my summer holiday. But I’m looking for a club in one of the top five leagues in Europe.”
Cillessen started just nine games for Barcelona last season and is in a similar position to Simon Mignolet.
Our Belgian keeper played just a couple of games for us in the previous campaign, and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for Cillessen in the summer.

Spending close to £55m for the 30-year-old should be out of the question and it could be better to hand one of our youngsters the role of Alisson’s back-up.
