Latest Liverpool news: Reds will learn about their Champions League fixtures on 29 August
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds will learn about their Champions League opponents after 29th August. Liverpool are the top seeds in the competition after they defeated Tottenham in the final a couple of weeks ago.
The other seeds in Pot 1 are Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit St. Petersburg, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Chelsea made it to the group after their Europa League win over Arsenal while Manchester City are present as they are the Premier League champions.
A lot of fixtures to be added into Liverpool’s schedule
The report adds that the group stage draw will take place on 29th August, with the first set of fixtures scheduled for 17th and 18th September.
Liverpool’s fixtures for the Premier League were released earlier today, and the opening game is against Norwich City at Anfield.
The Reds will have to play six Champions League group games and those will be scheduled as midweek matches. More games will be added if the Reds progress into the knockout rounds, and there should be more rescheduling done for the Club World Cup.
Liverpool didn’t have major problems with the Champions League games in between the Premier League clashes and it will be interesting to see how well we do this season.
