Liverpool FC transfer news: Newcastle interested in Liverpool target Max

The Chronicle Live claims that Newcastle are interested in Augsburg defender Philipp Max.

The 25-year-old had a decent Bundesliga campaign with Augsburg last season, scoring 4 goals and assisting 4.

The left-back is valued at £18million, and the Chronicle cannot confirm if Steve Bruce’s side will bid that high for the German defender.

Liverpool have been linked the 25-year-old left-back, according to Sport (h/t Metro).

The report claims that Augsburg will sell their star in the summer for £18million and Barcelona are interested in the German. It is interesting to learn about Newcastle’s interest in the German, especially after Rafa Benitez left in the summer.

Bruce has a big job in front of him to keep Newcastle in the Premier League after the great job done by Benitez.

Liverpool need cover for Robertson

Liverpool do need a versatile full-back who can provide cover for Andy Robertson.

The Scot is one of the best left-backs in the world but the Reds let Alberto Moreno leave after his contract expired in the summer.

The Reds have players such as Joe Gomez and James Milner, who can do the job of the left-back, but the pair does not have the same attacking output as Robbo.

Liverpool also have Adam Lewis and Yasser Larouci who can do the job. The pair has done well in the youth teams at the club, and has been impressive in pre-season.
