Ryan Kent claims he was lied to about his future before his summer exit
Ryan Kent was one of the Liverpool stars who did extremely well on loan last season.
The 22-year-old winger helped Steven Gerrard’s Rangers finish second in the Scottish Premiership and won the Scotland PFA Young Player of the Year.
The winger did a great job during Liverpool’s pre-season too and was able to secure a permanent move to Rangers on the final day of the transfer window.
The Englishman opened up about the move and claimed that he had been lied to during the summer (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“It was very tough. I had to stay mentally strong, when you are told you can do one thing and then you are lied to and it doesn’t happen, that is quite hard to take.
“I just had to keep myself fit and train on my own and make sure I keep my fitness levels up and I was waiting for a moment like this to arrive.”
The former Liverpool winger added that he was happy that he got his move and claimed that he would have preferred to be at the Gers earlier.
“I would have liked to have been here from the start, it is quite difficult watching it on the TV wishing I was part of some of the games but I am delighted to be back and I can’t wait to get going.”
Liverpool looking to get the right deal for Kent
Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Kent wasn’t going to leave on a loan deal this summer and any exit would have to be permanent.
The Gers tried to land him on loan again, according to the Liverpool Echo, before a permanent transfer was agreed upon by the two clubs.
