Liverpool will hope for a response in the next season after a heartbreaking loss against Sevilla in the Europa League final. This loss will have repercussions other than a place in the Champions League which will be mental to cope up with such kind of a defeat. Many have questioned the winning mentality of these bunches of players and the match in Basel proved one thing that the Reds lack leaders who can take the team out of trouble when the going gets tough.
Jurgen Klopp will introspect and have to come up with solutions after being involved in five consecutive cup final losses. He has a tough summer ahead with the transfer window and the first pre-season, but there is no doubt about the fact that Liverpool have made progress under the German and he is the man who can bring the glory days back to Anfield. Let’s take a look at three reasons on why Liverpool will surprise next season:
1. No Europe, No Distractions:
The next season can be the next 13-14 season where after finishing a lowly seventh, a title challenge ended on a sad note under Rodgers. The hope for all the fans will be to better that campaign by one more place. Leicester are a good example of how no midweek games can work in the favour of the reds to rest properly and train throughout the week and also for the new players to get used to Klopp’s philosophy. A good cup run and a comfortable top four place can be called as a decent next campaign.
2. Another fine Daniel Sturridge season:
After being injured for more than half of the season, Sturridge still was the Red’s top scorer this campaign, which epitomized the fact that Liverpool have a world class striker at their disposal. After being relatively injury free since February (fingers crossed), the 25-year-old will be hoping for a good outing in the Euros and there is no doubt about the fact that if he remains fit, the likes of Kane and Aguero will have a run for their money next season.
3. New signings will light up the league:
Some pretty good names are being linked to the club and the squad will definitely be improved by the new faces that will join at Melwood. The likes of Mario Gotze, Loris Karius, and Joel Matip are surely an upgrade on what the reds have at the moment and will surely help the club to a top four finish after two long years.
