Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri expected to miss Sheffield United clash

Liverpool are expected to be without a couple of first-team stars for the clash against Sheffield United.

The Reds started several young players in their 2-0 win over MK Dons, but we should be back to our strongest team against Sheffield on Saturday.

The Blades have picked up some impressive performances since returning to the Premier League, and won’t be easy opposition.

The Daily Star claims that Divock Origi is a major doubt for the game after injuring his ankle in the win over Newcastle.

The Belgian didn’t feature in the Carabao Cup fixture in midweek, and this clash might come a little soon for the forward.

Another attacker to miss out

Xherdan Shaqiri hasn’t played much for the Reds this season, and the Swiss star won’t be featuring against Sheffield.

The former Stoke City attacker picked up a calf problem recently and won’t be involved on Saturday, according to the report.

Shaqiri could have played on one of the wings with either Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane receiving some rest. However, the two Liverpool stars should start against Sheffield as they weren’t in action during the Carabao Cup game.

Nathaniel Clyne and Alisson are two long-term absentees and it will be interesting to see when they return to action.

Mane also picked up a minor issue during the Chelsea game but should be back in the XI against the Blades.
