Jurgen Klopp confirms four players won’t feature till 2020 for Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that four players will not play for the Reds till 2020.
The Reds face Leicester City on Boxing Day and Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not play for us.
The midfielder injured his ankle in the 1-0 win over Flamengo in the Club World Cup final. Roberto Firmino got the winner for the Reds but this was another injury concern for us.
Klopp was speaking ahead of the game against the Foxes and didn’t put an exact time scale on his return (h/t BBC):
“We have to see how quick it can settle.
“It can take a while, or it can be quicker.”
However, the German confirmed that the Ox would not feature in the next two Premier League games.
Other stars missing for Reds
The Reds have other injury concerns too. Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho all didn’t feature in the Club World Cup games.
Although Georginio Wijnaldum returned to the bench after missing the semi-final, Klopp confirmed that the trio would not play till the end of the year (h/t BBC).
The Reds have a handy 10-point lead over second-placed Leicester City. They also have a game in hand over the Foxes and it will be interesting to see how we do next.
