Marko Gurijic was Liverpool’s first signing for the summer, although the player decided to make a switch in January itself, the move was finalized only this summer after he received the work permit.
The player has so far managed to impress at the Reds with excellent displays during the club’s pre-season and has recently revealed that he had received expert advice from his countrymen with regards to the move to the Anfield this summer.
Gurijic stated that he took advice from Chelsea player Nemanja Matic, Lazar Markovic and Aleksandar Kolarov when he got to know that the Reds wanted to sign him.
“When I first heard Liverpool wanted me, I called Lazar Markovic, Nemanja Matic and Aleksandar Kolarov and they all told me ‘you need to sign for them’,” he told Goal.
‘He [Matic] said it’s faster and stronger football, that I need to adapt and I need to wait some months before I get my chance. He said it’s a big, big club, one of the biggest in England.”
While the player did impress during the Pre-season it still remains to be seen whether the player will feature in Klopp’s regular first team. We do know that the German manager does not have any qualms giving the young players their chances, the midfield in the Anfield as of now is well stocked and Gurijic may have stiff competition trying to break into the first team.
