Liverpool announce new sustainability partnership with Iugis in Europe and Australia

According to a report by Liverpool’s official website, the club have partnered with Iugis in Europe and Australia to curb food wastage and work towards sustainable development. Iugis have revolutionized recycling by coming up with a way to utilize food waste by turning it into water.

The report claims that this deal aligns with the Reds’ Go Green initiative. As a result, Iugis’ innovative organic food digester machines will be installed in numerous spots at Anfield. Further explaining how it works, the report adds that these machines make use of microorganisms and oxygen to break down the food particles to create water, which can be used for other purposes.

The report goes on to claim that the club have been quite wary about adopting sustainable practices and uses the creation of the LFC allotment in Marlborough Road as an example. That is where they grow food to serve supporters on matchdays, thus reducing the need for single-use plastic.

Speaking about the new partnership, Bill Papas, CEO of Iugis, said:

These steps are certainly much-needed, considering the times we are living in. Global warming is a serious issue that has the potential to destroy life as we know it in one go. It is heartening to learn that Liverpool are actively taking steps to offset their carbon footprint to a certain extent at least.
