Dejan Lovren has been backed to leave Liverpool this summer by Danny Mills
As reported by Football.London, former Leeds United star and football pundit Danny Mills has backed Dejan Lovren to make an exit from Liverpool this summer.
Lovren has been with Liverpool since 2014, having signed from Southampton. The Croatian has been a part of several memorable moments with our team. However, he has slipped down the pecking order over the past couple of seasons. Jurgen Klopp has opted to use Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip ahead of Lovren.
With Lovren’s contract set to expire in 2021, he faces an uncertain future at Liverpool. There has been an interest in the Croatian international from Arsenal and Tottenham. (h/t Express)
Now, Danny Mills has claimed that the 30-year-old is likely to be on his way out in the summer. As quoted by Football.London, he said:
“He has slipped down the pecking order at Liverpool and there will now be teams looking to snap him up. There will be Premier League teams high up the table that are looking at his services.”
Mills further pointed out that Lovren would be a suitable replacement for Jan Vertonghen, whose contract with Tottenham is expiring in a few months. (h/t Football.London)
The 2019/20 season has been an injury-riddled one for Lovren. This has seen him feature just 14 times in all competitions. The 30-year-old had a poor game against Watford last month, playing a role in our first Premier League defeat of the season.

The Premier League season is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic that has brought the world to a standstill. With just two wins separating us from the title, Lovren, should he leave the club, would exit with a Premier League winners medal.
