Jamie Carragher identifies two areas Liverpool need to strengthen
Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has identified the two areas that the club need to strengthen in the summer transfer window (h/t Mirror).
Liverpool have enjoyed a scintillating 2019/20 season. The Reds are sitting comfortably at the top of the Premier League table. Our team is poised to lift the league title when the season resumes from suspension.
In what has been a dominant season, Jurgen Klopp’s men have lost just one league game. However, our former defender Jamie Carragher reckons that the team is not the finished article yet (h/t Mirror).
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Football Show, Carragher claimed that our starting XI is very strong, with little room for improvement. However, the former England international added that the club needed to strengthen our backup options, especially in two departments (h/t Mirror).
Carragher is of the belief that Liverpool need more depth in the attacking ranks as well as a new left-back to compete with Andy Robertson (h/t Mirror).
“For me, a strong understudy to Andy Robertson and I wouldn’t say a big-name striker, but certainly someone whose really going to push that front three.”
Carragher’s assessment of the situation is spot on. Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been firing on all cylinders. But there’s just not enough cover in the squad apart from Divock Origi. The same applies for the left-back slot as well, with James Milner having to operate as Robertson’s backup.

Carragher further added that for Liverpool to stay on top of our rivals, it is important that the club invests in the squad this summer (h/t Mirror).
It remains to be seen if the club pays heed to Carragher’s advice and spends heavily in the summer.
