A lot is going on inside the dugout of the Merseyside club Liverpool. While the players are out on international duties and there is just one day to go for the transfer window, the managers in the Premier League are sensing some heavy pressure, especially Jurgen Klopp. The manager has done a great business so far in the market, but still are there is a room for improvement. Yes, there is!
Now, what’s trending is the news the about Liverpool’s 26-year-old defender Mamadou Sakho. According to the recent reports from the Daily Mail, the French defender has been told to find a new club before the transfer window closes if he wants to play any football this season. The Merseysiders are ready to let him go on loan and reports even suggested that the fellow Premier League side Stoke City were interested in signing him, but the player himself turned down the offer.
Furthermore, the same source has stated that West Brom too are interested in signing him and are ready to offer £20million for Sakho, who cost Liverpool £18million when he arrived from Paris St Germain three years ago, but the player has denied this move as well. So it is now clear that the player is doing everything he can to stay and fight for his place at the Anfield, but it seems like the manager has no plans for him at this season.
The club has signed two defenders namely, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan and both are capable of fighting for the first place, but we certainly believe that Liverpool should really keep Sakho, as he is one of the best physical defender in the Premier League.
Previously, while the Croatian defender, Dejan Lovren, was struggling to find a perfect form, it was Sakho who guided the backline and later on, he formed a very formidable partnership with the former Southampton star and went on to help the side on many occasions.
Only due to that drug test incident, he was excluded from the Europa League final and also from France’s national squad. The 26-year-old is one of the beast defenders in the league. Other than being super physical, the towering defender is also good with his positioning and ball-distributing skills.
The club has brought some great names, but they all are struggling defensively this season and besides that, their number one choice Dejan Lovren, who had a great season under Klopp, isn’t looking the same anymore. Sakho is surely becoming a scapegoat for the manager and the arrival of Matip and Klavan has let him fall down into the pecking order for the manager, but then again, it is Sakho, who has got the experience in both club and national level and looking at his injury record and consistency, Klopp should at least try few games with him before deciding anything.
