Liverpool interested in Boubakary Soumare
According to Le10Sport (h/t Mirror), Premier League champions Liverpool are interested in signing Lille midfield star Boubakary Soumare, who is also wanted by Manchester United.
The 21-year-old is a product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy. He made the jump to Lille in 2017, in search of first-team opportunities and has slowly grown into a key member of the team.
In the 2019/20 campaign, Soumare racked up 30 appearances across all competitions, helping Les Dogues to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 and a semi-final run in the Coupe de La Ligue.
This has seemingly put him on the radars of a number of top clubs across Europe. As per the aforementioned report, Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in the 21-year-old. Our rivals Manchester City and Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Soumare.
This is not the first time rumours of Liverpool’s interest in Soumare are doing the rounds. Reports back in April had claimed that the Premier League champions had shown an interest in the France U21 international, along with Manchester United. (h/t Daily Mail)
While we are very well-stocked in the midfield department currently, there may be a space open in the side soon. Georginio Wijnaldum, whose contract expires in less than a year, has been linked with Barcelona.
Thiago Alcantara has been touted as a potential target for us this summer. But Soumare could be an alternative for the Bayern Munich star, should that move fail. (h/t Mirror)

As things stand, we have completed one transfer so far this summer, with Kostas Tsimikas arriving to bolster the defence. However, if we are to continue dominating our rivals, we will need quality squad depth. So, a few more signings before the window closes wouldn’t go amiss.
