Liverpool receive transfer blow over Youri Tielemans
Liverpool received a bit of a blow on their pursuit of Youri Tielemans of Leicester City. The midfielder was admired by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ever since his Anderlecht days. But he has pledged his future to the Foxes. (h/t The Sun)
It is being said that Tielemans believes Leicester are in a phase where they can experience success under Brendan Rodgers, in England as well as Europe. The Belgian wants to help his side progress into the next round of the Europa League.
Adding to that, he said he would be happy to extend his current deal with Leicester.
“Why not? This is a club where you have the best environment you can have, especially with the new training ground. The people around you just want the best from you. It’s brilliant to be here and I really like it here. You can’t predict the future or whether we are ready to win trophies but everything around the club and inside the club is already in place to produce success.”
Talks are underway for a new £100,000-a-week deal with Tielemans. His current deal was supposed to expire in 2023. Ever since arriving from AS Monaco, he has been one of the most stand-out midfielders in the league.
