Transfer News: Liverpool ace Caoimhin Kelleher wanted by Ipswich Town
According to news from TWTD, Liverpool youngster Caoimhin Kelleher has emerged as a target for League One club Ipswich Town ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Having started out his career with the academy of Irish outfit Ringmahon Rangers, Kelleher made the switch to Liverpool’s youth setup in 2015. The goalkeeper rose through the ranks at the club, making over 50 appearances for the U-18s and the U-23s combined.
Kelleher made his first-team debut for Liverpool in the FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town in February last year and has since featured eight more times for Jurgen Klopp’s side, keeping four clean sheets.
The 22-year-old drew praises for some of his displays in goal for Liverpool, but with Alisson Becker the undisputed first-choice between the sticks, Kelleher is likely to find regular game-time hard to come by at Anfield.
In addition to that, veteran goalkeeper Adrian is likely to sign a new contract with the Reds as well, meaning that the second-choice spot would also be sorted for another year at least.
This leaves the door open for Kelleher to leave Liverpool on a loan deal for the upcoming season and Ipswich Town are now lining up to swoop him away, as per the aforementioned report.

Kelleher is at a stage in his career when he needs to be playing regularly. And with Adrian likely to stay put at Anfield, it only makes sense for Liverpool to send the Irishman away on a season-long temporary spell so as to help him gain experience.
Ipswich are unlikely to be the only team interested either, with the report adding that a few Championship clubs could also look to take Kelleher on loan for next season. It remains to be seen where the 22-year-old ends up.
