Transfer News: Liverpool held talks with agents of Dusan Vlahovic

According to news from Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Daily Star), Liverpool have already held talks with the agents of Dusan Vlahovic over the possibility of a transfer in the summer window.

Vlahovic enjoyed a stunning 2020/21 season with Fiorentina, despite the Viola struggling throughout the course of the campaign. The Serbian striker finished with a highly impressive tally of 21 goals and 2 assists from 37 league outings – his best return since joining the club from Partizan Belgrade in 2018.

Vlahovic’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed either, with Liverpool taking a keen interest in the striker. The Reds’ need for a new prolific goalscorer is very much understandable after Roberto Firmino endured a sub-par 2020/21 season.

In addition to that, backup striker Divock Origi has been heavily linked with a summer exit from Anfield, thus necessitating the addition of a new striker to Jurgen Klopp’s squad ahead of the next season.

Vlahovic, to that end, would be a great signing, given his impressive form and his age. Indeed, at 21, the Serbian has his entire career in front of him and should continue to get better with age and experience. The 21-year-old, though, had recently insisted that he sees himself at Fiorentina only come next season.

However, the aforementioned report claims that it has not put Liverpool off and the striker himself might consider a switch, given as his agents have already held talks with the Merseysiders last month itself.

Liverpool, though, might have to face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan in the race to sign Vlahovic, provided the Rossoneri fail in their pursuit of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
