Transfer News: Liverpool show interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

According to transfer news from Mirror, Liverpool have shown interest in signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Reds have also contacted Lazio regarding a transfer. However, the price Lazio want is seemed to be on the higher side. Manchester United are also said to be after the Serbian.

Milinkovic-Savic, 26, came through the ranks of Vojvodina Novi Sad’s youth system and joined Genk in the summer of 2014. A year later, Lazio snapped him up. Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the best central midfielders in Europe.

It’s not without reason that the Reds are looking to add to their midfield. Gini Wijnaldum has left the club and that means they are not only a man light but will also miss the goals he provided from midfield. With Liverpool struggling last season, they would want to avoid any squad deficiencies this time around.

Milinkovic-Savic is one of those names that feel like they have been around forever. However, he is just 26 and now being chased by Liverpool. He does have a valuation of £60m, which is unlikely to be met fully by Liverpool. Provided a deal can be agreed, the towering Serbian midfielder could end up on the Merseyside next season.

The Serb is a goal-scoring midfielder. He aides the attack well and can also disrupt the opposition. He may not have had the best of seasons last year but the talent is still there. Liverpool would do well to get a deal for him over the line to bolster their midfield.
