Liverpool’s fine start to the season is certainly catching more than just the eyes of the pundits and Premier League fans. The Merseyside club might have had to deal with the disappointment of drawing with Manchester United but one of their stars did come close to breaking the deadlock.
Philippe Coutinho, who is rated at €53.4 Million by CIES Football Observatory, had a wonderful shot saved in the second half by David de Gea. And the Brazilian star for Liverpool has also had an incredible start to this campaign. The 24-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists in the eight Premier League games and will surely add more before the season ends.
Ronaldo, the Brazilian legend, has found the player to be the right man for his ex-club Real Madrid and that might not be good news for Liverpool.
Speaking during an interview on the “El Transistor” radio show, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid striker stated he would like to see the Liverpool man playing in the white of Real Madrid.
“I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player.”
When Real want someone, they get him
This certainly does not bode well for Jurgen Klopp. The La Liga club does have a history of signing any player they want and it wouldn’t be a surprise if more rumours start circulating that Real table crazy bids for the Brazilian attacker.
Coutinho has been one of star performers in the Premier League and playing for the La Liga giants does have its own air. The Brazilian is an asset for the Reds and if Jurgen Klopp does harbour dreams of taking the Merseyside club back to the top, he has to keep hold of such players for the foreseeable future.
Coutinho at home and set for a bumper contract
A few days ago, Coutinho was also linked with a move to PSG and the Reds will have to move swiftly if they want to keep hold of their precious star. There have been rumours that the management at Anfield is looking to tie down the mercurial Brazilian for a longer contract since his current one lasts till 2020.
Signing a long-term deal does not negate the chances of a player moving away but it ensures that the Reds do get a large transfer amount for the star, akin to the case with Luis Suarez. Coutinho also stated to the Liverpool Echo recently that he was happy at Merseyside and it was his home.
“Liverpool feels like my home
“I feel happy, settled and comfortable here with the city and the people.
“It’s an amazing city. I enjoy going to the cinema with my wife and to restaurants in town.
“The supporters are very nice. Hearing people singing my name, it inspires me. The fans here make me feel amazing.”
A new contract, a feeling of home and with the team playing some incredible football, it should not be a surprise if Coutinho does stay at Liverpool for a long time. At least, the fans will hope that is the case.
