Transfer News: Napoli show serious interest in Liverpool ace Kostas Tsimikas
According to transfer news from Corriere dello Sport (h/t Mirror), Napoli are seriously considering going after Liverpool star Kostas Tsimikas. They have made him one of their top two targets for the summer. Tsimikas struggled to make a mark in his first season at Liverpool.
It is not an easy task to oust arguably the best left-back in Europe. Kostas Tsimikas found that out all too well after his move from Olympiacos last season. The 24-year-old registered 5 assists in 20 league appearances for Olympiacos during the 2019-20 campaign which prompted Liverpool to get him as cover for Andy Robertson.
However, he would feature for a collective 225 minutes over the entirety of last season as Liverpool endured an underwhelming season. It was expected that Tsimikas would provide some decent competition for Robertson but his injuries through the season meant that that was never going to happen.
After just a season, the Greek international has been linked with a move away from the club. Serie A giants Napoli are said to be interested in the left-back. Their initial offer of a loan deal was rejected but they are expected to return with another offer. He is said to be a priority signing for them. (h/t Mirror)

It is hard to point the finger at the 24-year-old given he isn’t really at fault for the season he has had. Andy Robertson is that good a player that it is hard to put anyone in the side instead of him. Offloading Tsimikas after just one season will be harsh. But on the other hand, it’s unlikely he goes ahead and displaces Robertson.
