Liverpool fans react to Jordan Henderson signing new contract
According to Liverpoolfc.com, Liverpool have signed up club captain Jordan Henderson to a new four-year deal and shared the news with fans today.
The 31-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire in 2023 causing a lot of uncertainty around the player’s future. However, the Anfield outfit have now signed the player to a new deal that will keep him committed at the club until 2025.
Since originally signing for Liverpool in 2011, Henderson has made 394 appearances for the club and will be hoping to hit the 400 mark in the coming months. The Englishman was a crucial part of Brendan Rodgers’ 2013/14 side which came close to winning a Premier League title and failed.
In the following year, Steven Gerrard retired, and Jordan Henderson was named the club captain. The 31-year-old has been an incredible servant over the years and has also guided the club to its sixth European title in 2019.
The Englishman certainly became a legend at the club when he played a crucial role in Liverpool’s Premier League title triumph in 2020 – a trophy they did not win for 30 years at the time.
Although the 31-year-old suffered from injury problems last year, he managed to make 28 appearances in all competitions while he also scored 2 goals in the process. Jurgen Klopp will be aiming to win the Premier League title again this year, and he would need his most trusted men ready and fit for the games.
So far, Henderson has started two games for the club this term and will now be ready to fight for a spot in the starting lineup. Let us now see how fans on Twitter reacted to Henderson signing a new contract.
