Injury News: Jurgen Klopp provides the latest on Harvey Elliott ankle injury in Liverpool vs Leeds United
Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Liverpool Echo) after the 3-0 win against Leeds United, gave the latest injury update on Harvey Elliott and explained that he indeed had a dislocated ankle.
The Reds got off to a great start at Elland Road when a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass found Mohamed Salah with an open goal in front of him. Fabinho Tavares then doubled the lead in the second half.
But an injury to Harvey Elliott around the hour mark paused any and every discussion about goals, wins, Premier League table, or rivalries. The focus right then was ensuring the well-being of the 18-year-old English playmaker.
A foolish tackle from Pascal Struijk dislocated Elliott’s ankle, and the Dutchman was rightly given the marching orders. Fans were given a quantum of hope when they saw the teenager applauding the fans when he was being stretchered off.
And speaking about the injury after the game, Klopp confirmed that the injury is as bad as it looked. The youngster is in the hospital and will receive treatment.
“It is a bad injury. Ankle. I heard it was dislocated, we could put it back. He is now in the hospital, and we have to wait. He played, again, an incredible game and he is an incredible player. But now he is out.”
Klopp stated the obvious when he said that this is not a situation that he would want the team to be in right now. Nevertheless, the former Borussia Dortmund manager will wait for Elliott to come back. There isn’t anything more he can do right now, to be fair.
“Do I want such a young boy having that experience that early in his career? No. But that’s the case and we have to be there. We will play football without him, but we will wait for him as well. Obviously he is a top, top player.”

Hopefully, Elliott recovers well and is back from the injury just as sharp as he was before it. Fans will also take positives from the message he posted on his Instagram account, which read, “Thank you for the messages guys! Road to recovery. YNWA”.
