Transfer News: Inter Milan seeking £75m for Liverpool target Lautaro Martinez
According to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have set their sights on Lautaro Martinez. The South American will however not come cheap as Inter Milan are thought to have put a £75m price tag on their star man.
The 24-year-old striker has been an instrumental part of the Nerazzurri in the last couple of seasons. He linked up well with former striker partner Romelu Lukaku helping guide the Italian club to their first Scudetto in 11 years last season.
The Argentine professional footballer has provided some great returns scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 33 matches across all competitions for the defending Serie A champions this campaign.
At 24, it seems as though Martinez still has some of the best footballing years ahead of him. He can be a great long-term asset for the club if nurtured in the right manner. His ability on and off the ball could be another tempting proposition for Jurgen Klopp
Lautaro Martinez and what he can bring to Liverpool?
The Inter Milan striker is still young and could go on to play at the elite level for several more years. The Anfield outfit does possess an impressive forward lineup that consists of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane among others.
That being said, it is inevitable that the club could be forced to bring younger exciting options to help future proof the attacking department at Anfield. Lautaro Martinez could perfectly fit this bill and the lure of working under a world-class manager such as Jurgen Klopp could be a greater boost for our prospects.
The Anfield outfit didn’t break the ban but spent wisely on acquiring Columbian forward Luis Diaz in January. The 25-year-old Columbian has had a great start to life at Liverpool. Whilst the likes of Diogo Jota has provided apt cover in the attacking department till now whenever required. Martinez could be the perfect replacement in the striking position.
The Argentine professional footballer’s addition could also help boost competition for a place in the team. With that in mind, the pursuit of the Serie A ace will not be an easy task considering the current evaluation set by his club along with his recent form.

The club have been hesitant on splashing the big bucks on players until absolutely necessary in the last few seasons. While Martinez could be a great asset, the price tag being attached to his services could be a huge obstacle for the Anfield outfit at the moment.
