Liverpool to fight several Premier League clubs as well as Barcelona to sign Ajax Amsterdam ace Antony
According to the Mirror, Liverpool could be locked in a battle with fellow Premier League clubs and Barcelona to sign Brazilian upcoming star Antony.
The 22-year-old currently plies his trade at Ajax Amsterdam and has been an apt replacement for Hakim Ziyech who left the Dutch club for a move to Chelsea. The young Brazilian has gone on to make a significant impact at de Joden in the last couple of seasons.
Antony has already bagged 12 goals and notched up 10 assists in 33 matches across all competitions for the Eredivisie club this campaign. His on-field exploits have certainly not gone noticed and the visitors could be lining up to lure the youngster away from Johan Cruijff Arena.
The young Brazilian’s current contract with the Dutch outfit expires in 2025 which means that Ajax could possibly be looking for a heavy fee should they let go of their prized asset who has become one of the hottest properties in Europe right now.
Another young forward?
The Reds have been shrewd in the last couple of transfer windows, purchasing players who could reap long-term dividends for the club. The Merseysiders acquired Luis Diaz in January and the Columbian international has already hit the ground running.
The Anfield outfit also possesses the option of Diogo Jota who is becoming an integral part of the setup at Liverpool. Whilst we boast of some of the top attackers in world football with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah, the Reds have done an amicable job in purchasing players to help future proof the attacking department.
At 22, the Brazilian forward has been impressive not only in the Dutch League but also at the highest level in Europe. He showcases great ability on the ball and his skills are a treat to the eyes of football fans all around the globe.
That kind of flair and attacking intent could be a great asset for the club from Merseyside should we go all-in for the youngster. He could help bolster our ranks down the right flank and prove to be an able successor to the Egyptian international should he continue on his current trajectory. The former Chelsea forward has already achieved somewhat of a cult status at Anfield.

That being said, Salah’s current contract with the Reds expires in 2023 and things are at a standstill regarding the possibility of a renewed deal. The situation seems to get tense with every passing week and there certainly won’t be a shortage of suitors for the former AS Roma forward.
With all these factors in mind, the 22-year-old Brazilian could be a tempting proposition for the Reds at the moment. Liverpool would thus have to be wary of the interest from Barcelona and other Premier League clubs if they are genuinely interested in securing his services.
