Transfer News: Liverpool face competition for Jarrod Bowen
According to 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Reds face extra competition in the form of Newcastle United in their pursuit of in-form English striker Jarrod Bowen.
The Englishman has been linked to Liverpool in recent months due to his performances for West Ham United over the last few months. The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Hammers and it comes as no surprise that he is linked with a move to Liverpool.
The winger has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 42 matches this season across all competitions for David Moyes’ side and has been one of their key men in their quest for a top-4 finish.
Although they have slipped away a little bit in recent weeks, Hammers and Bowen have had a season to remember. The fact that Liverpool are interested in the English forward comes as no surprise.
However, the Reds are not alone in their interest. It is being speculated that Newcastle United have joined Liverpool in the race to sign the talented Hammers winger and Klopp will have to act fast if he wants the winger at Anfield.
Reinforcing the forward line?
Roberto Firmino, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane have formed a deadly attacking trio for the Reds over the past few years, but with all three players in and around their 30s, we will need to replace them sooner rather than later.
The Reds have already found an able replacement for Firmino in Jota, with the Portuguese forward gaining prominence in the team over the past few months. At 25 years, if he continues in the same vein, Jota could be the man to lead our forward line for many years to come.
The signing of Luis Diaz in the winter, as a potential replacement for Sadio Mane, makes a lot of sense. While the Senegalese star still plays at a very high level, the Colombian winger, also 25, can take over in the near future.
Similarly, the Reds will want to ensure their right-wing position to cover for Salah and take over from him eventually and maybe the answer to that lies in a certain yet again 25-year-old.

Bowen, predominantly a right-winger could be the heir to Salah’s throne if the Egyptian was to leave. If we manage to secure Bowen, we will have completed a rebuild of our forward line which would hold us in good stead, both in the present and the future.
