Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp addresses contract situations of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah ahead of Newcastle United clash
Speaking in his pre-match presser as quoted by ESPN, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp cleared the air around the contract situations of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane before the Newcastle United fixture. The German manager reiterated that his contract extension isn’t necessarily a decisive factor here.
The Merseysiders have been in red hot form of late, decimating oppositions one after the other. The Senegalese and Egyptian internationals have spearheaded our attacking setup in the last few years, paving the way for great success at Anfield.
Mane has bagged 117 goals and 46 assists in 262 matches across all competitions whereas Salah has scored 155 goals and recorded 61 assists in 247 appearances for the Reds so far. These are exceptional numbers and go to show the level of consistency that they have maintained over the years.
Klopp, when quizzed about the future of the attacking duo, hinted that he had a good relationship with both of them. Jurgen was also quick to direct that any such question should be asked to the players instead of him.
“I think that’s a question for the boys. My relationship with both players is great. If it’s a positive sign for the boys then great, but I don’t think this will be a decisive factor. But the players who want to be here now know what they can expect.”
Mo-Mane magic
Klopp has revolutionised the club from Merseyside ever since his arrival back in 2015. Since then we have transformed into heavyweights who are feared in England as well as in Europe. The German manager has now put pen to paper on a new deal that extends his stay with the club until 2026.
This will see him become the fourth longest-serving manager of Liverpool. The fans would have been delighted to see this and now a sense of anticipation would be surrounding the likes of Salah and Mane.
The attacking duo both have current contracts that expire in 2023 and it would be interesting to see how events unfold. The Reds have purchased suitable replacements such as Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota with a view to future-proof our forward lineup.
That being said, the former Southampton forward, as well as the Egyptian international, are still essential cogs in our squad. They continue to have a good 2021-22 season, and their impact can be felt through our results and morale in the dressing room.

The long-term financial future of the club is of paramount importance if we are to compete for trophies going forward. Whilst that is true, both Mane and Salah have carved out a special place in the hearts of Liverpudlians across the globe and we hope that the Merseysiders will try their best to extend their stay at Anfield.
Salah is wreaking havoc in the PL this season while Mane led Senegal to their first-even AFCON title- coincidentally against Egypt in the competition’s final. Both are really at the peak of their powers and remain two of the most feared wingers in England.
