Transfer News: Liverpool, PSG, and Real Madrid target Aurelien Tchouameni will leave AS Monaco this summer
As per transfer news on French outlet RMC Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), AS Monaco midfielder and Liverpool target, Aurelien Tchouameni, has decided that he will ‘definitely leave’ the Ligue 1 club this summer.
The young Frenchman has also attracted interest from Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, and Real Madrid- the club they will face in Paris later this month in the UEFA Champions League final. PSG are also said to hold an interest in the youngster.
The 22-year-old joined Monaco a couple of years back from Girondins de Bordeaux but has rapidly become one of their main men in midfield. It is no surprise that he has made 46 appearances for them in all competitions this season.
Standing at 1.87m, the tall defensive midfielder already has 8 senior caps for France and earned praise from international teammate, Paul Pogba. Speaking to RTL via Ouest-France (h/t football.london) back in September 2021, the Manchester United midfielder said of Tchouameni:
“Very very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man. Pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality.”
The Reds can use a young midfielder like him in the middle of the park. For a number of months, Fabinho Tavaras has been our only natural option as a number 6. This has especially been the case since Georginio Wijnaldum’s departure to PSG last summer.
Jordan Henderson has, however, deputised in that role at times when the Brazilian has been unavailable. However, neither he nor Thiago Alcantara are getting any younger, while James Milner is in the twilight of his playing career.
Tchouameni offers the Reds an option to have in their ranks a young, dynamic defensive enforcer who is yet to approach the prime years of his career. Under a coach like Jurgen Klopp, the possibilities would be endless for the Monaco star.
But for that, the Reds would have to formalise any apparent interest they may hold in him. And on top of that, would have to be on their toes to fend off competition from the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

A fee of £59million could be enough to prise him away from Stade Louis II. However, it remains to be seen if the Reds are willing to splash such an amount on strengthening a position that, at least as of now, has enough quality options.
