Transfer News: Liverpool, Manchester City amongst 8 clubs to send scouts to watch Aurelien Tchouameni vs Lille
As per 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool and Manchester City are amongst eight clubs that sent scouts to watch AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni against LOSC Lille in their Ligue 1 game last night.
The Monégasques are currently second in the Ligue 1 table and are on their way to securing UEFA Champions League football for next season. They took on Lille in a much-hyped league encounter, where Tchouameni scored twice to hand his team a 2-1 win.
Angel Gomes’ goal for Lille was sandwiched between the French midfielder’s strikes on either end of the half-time whistle, as he netted his 4th and 5th goals of this season across all competitions.
Apparently, scouts from Liverpool, Man City, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich were present to scout the talented 22-year-old midfielder.
What should LFC do?
They were certainly not disappointed. While Tchouameni scored two on the night, his contribution to his team’s play goes beyond just scoring or assisting. He is a strong defensive midfielder capable of shielding the centre-backs when his team is defending.
He is a well-rounded central midfielder and at the age of just 22, is a full international for the French international team. And all this progress has been made in the space of just two years, when he moved to Monaco from Girondins de Bordeaux.
It is good to know that our scouts were apparently present in the stands to watch the youngster show his talent. Fabinho has, for a long time, been our irreplaceable defensive midfielder.
A youngster like Tchouameni can certainly become his understudy if he comes to Anfield. Not just that, he could also play either side of the Brazilian in our midfield given how our central midfielders are required to help out in defence as well.

He would certainly be a smart buy but the competition that we may face for his signature certainly makes this a deal that won’t be easy to complete.
