Georginio Wijnaldum certainly has made the headlines in the big games for Liverpool. The former Newcastle man joined the Merseyside club in the summer and has scored vital goals in the games against Manchester City and Arsenal.
The 26-year-old has scored four goals and provided four assists in the Premier League and his eye for a great pass has certainly made him a favourite amongst the Anfield faithful. While many had raised questions about the £25 million reportedly paid for the midfielder, some of his performances justify the price tag Liverpool bought him for.
Wijnaldum also seems to have gelled with the squad really well and the chemistry amongst the Liverpool players seems to be getting better with each game. The 26-year-old was taking part in a rapid-fire question round by Dugout (via Liverpool Echo) and the Dutchman had a few interesting responses.
The former Newcastle man was asked which player was his best mate at the club and in a surprise, he stated that a couple of Belgian stars were close to him.
“I speak with Divock (Origi) a lot and Simon (Mignolet) because they speak Dutch so it makes it easier for me.”
When asked as to which player has the best hairstyle, the Dutchman opted for Roberto Firmino, which again may raise a few eyebrows seeing that the man-bun was not appreciated by many at the start of the season.
It wasn’t a surprise when he nominated Alberto Moreno’s hairstyle for the worst one amongst the teammates.
“Alberto! The worst style? The blonde one!”, added the 26-year-old.
While Wijnaldum has linked up well with the rest of the players, Sadio Mane has also become a hit at the club and the Dutchman added that Mane is the funniest player in the team.
“Sadio Mane, definitely! Because he is funny and he is chilled, relaxed and he sees everything relaxed. He doesn’t bother about things and that’s how it looks.”
Wijnaldum also added that he believes he is the fittest player in the team while Daniel Sturridge was adjudged to be the best dressed and the best dancer in the team too. He also added that no player at the club was a poor dancer and stated that he could dance well, when he goes out that is.
The midfielder was also asked which player he sees as the future manager and his answer was quite a surprise to many.
“Hendo (Jordan Henderson). I think he can be it. The way he treats people now and the way he arranges things.”
Liverpool will hope Wijnaldum continues his good run of form against Burnley whom they face at Anfield and if the Dutchman can conjure up some magic, three points will be in the bag.
