Liverpool are expected to strengthen the midfielder substantially in the summer. The future of players like Emre Can has been under much speculation, with rumours doing rounds that the German midfielder is expected to leave the club in the summer. Predictably, a number of replacements have been lined up by the club. One of their targets has been Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
Ed Aarons from the Guardian reports that the player is set to decide on his future in the coming fortnight.
Mahmoud #Dahoud expected to decide on his next club over next fortnight. Player has offers from several big European sides

Jurgen Klopp has been targeting players from Germany to sign at Liverpool in the upcoming summer. And he has witnessed first-hand the ability of Dahoud. The German has had a relatively mediocre campaign with Monchengladbach after scoring only once in 19 appearances. However, it has largely been down to playing as a defensive midfielder. Klopp is certain that Dahoud has the capability to shield his defence.
Even though Liverpool have been one of the highly productive teams in front of goal, they have not been able to stay in touch with the top teams due to a poor defensive record. The club are fourth in the league table and a whopping 11 points behind table leaders Chelsea.
After having been knocked out of every cup competition, the club will have to settle for a top four finish and nothing more this season. Though qualification to the Champions League is the priority for the club, keeping players like Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino happy will only be possible if the club wins trophies.
Lucas Leiva is also expected to depart the club in the summer, thus leaving Liverpool short of midfielders. Dahoud has been attracting plenty of attention from the clubs in Europe, but Liverpool believe that they have a firm advantage in the race to sign the 21-year-old since they would be able to guarantee him regular first-team football.
Dahoud has a contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until the summer of 2018. With less than 12 months left on his contract in the summer, Mönchengladbach would be more than interested in selling the player rather than lose him for nothing in the summer of 2018.
Dahoud will be another exciting in addition to the squad just like many of the players ahead of him. Klopp has witnessed the lack of strength in depth at Liverpool, which has come to haunt the team at the worst possible time.
