Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp suggested new signings would make a big difference in title hunt

While speaking in a press conference, as quoted by the Athletic (Subscription Required), Jurgen Klopp lauded the quality of players Liverpool brought in during the summer transfer window and suggested that they have a good chance of winning more silverware with this team.

Liverpool have done some noteworthy deals in the ongoing window as they have added Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay to the team in an effort to restock the team after losing Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, and Takumi Minamino to departure.

The German manager also suggested that he has no doubts about the quality of his new signings and he would be able to give a ‘good season’ with the help of these new additions.

“But to play a good season you need first and foremost consistency, that’s what it’s all about and that’s what we will try. I have no doubt about the quality of the boys. We brought in new players – yes, we lost a few players – but we brought in new players; if you want, fresh blood, really helpful.”

The former Dortmund manager also believes that his new signing would fire up competition inside the team, which in a way is good for the overall growth of the squad as it would help them evaluate their mistakes and perform well in every game.

“There are no places already sorted, who will play where. The boys will make pressure, which is important.”

The Liverpool team won both domestic cup tournaments last season, defeating Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals. However, they ended up just short of winning the Premier League by one point and suffered a defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris.

As part of their preseason plans, Klopp’s team flew into Bangkok earlier today. Shortly after landing in Asia, the German manager sat down to speak with the media.

We do have a lot of choices in midfield right now, but there is a sense that we need new players to shake things up and make sure we’re as competitive as we can be the following season.

The majority of our present midfield choices are now over 30, and while they still seem to have a lot to offer, the ageing problem could eventually impede their performance. However, it appears that our management has already put safety nets in place with the new additions.

The 55-year-old has won every significant trophy during his time on Merseyside, but as his fifth anniversary as Liverpool manager approaches, his desire to win more honours and to be as successful as possible endures.

Prior to their first Premier League match at Craven Cottage on August 6, the Reds will play Manchester City on July 30 in the Community Shield.
