Jurgen Klopp gives the latest update on Alisson Becker after injury scare in Liverpool training session
Speaking in an interview before the preseason game against Crystal Palace in Singapore (h/t the Athletic) [Subscription Required], Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Alisson Becker sat out during the latest training session due to an injury scare.
Diogo Jota also appears to have flared his hamstring injury but regarding the Brazilian goalkeeper, Klopp’s comments seemed a bit more relaxed.
“Ali was not 100 per cent earlier. He felt something while warming up so again we will have to see. I think pretty much all the others are fine. It’s the period of the year when we have to be really careful.”
Hopefully, it was just a precautionary exclusion from the training session. Klopp’s words seem to indicate it isn’t serious, at least right now.
Keep it safe
Alisson is untouchable as our first-choice goalkeeper. Caoimhin Kelleher is good, but Alisson has cemented his status as one of the very best in the world.
The Reds must not take any chances with the former AS Roma man and hand him due rest. The first step would be limiting his involvement against the Eagles tomorrow.
Even if he feels fit by then, it would be in the club’s best interest to not risk anything. The Community Shield may not be a glorious trophy to win, but it is still silverware.
The Reds could get their hands on it for the first time under Jurgen Klopp at the end of this month when they take on Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on 30th July.

Our fans would undoubtedly feel much better about our chances of beating the Cityzens if Alissonwas in goal. If not, the Irish international, Kelleher, would not be a shabby replacement.
