Liverpool center-back, Sepp van den Berg set to join Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool center-back Sepp van den Berg is an option on a season-long loan contract with recently promoted Premier League club, Bournemouth.

With numerous new arrivals and notable departures, the ongoing transfer window has been pretty active under new Liverpool Sporting Director Julian Ward. The Dutch center-back appears to be the next star to be loaned away as manager Jurgen Klopp continues to pare down his team in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Van den Berg was signed by the Reds team from PEC Zwolle for £1.5 million after the scouts identified him as a fantastic future talent. The fans expected that he would follow in the footsteps of fellow teammate, Joe Gomez, who went on to establish himself as a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The 20-year-old spent the previous 18 months on loan at Championship team Preston North End where he had a significant impact on Ryan Lowe’s team. He made 50 appearances, scoring on two occasions as they finished in 13th spot in the previous year

Liverpool would want to help the Dutchman by letting him have enough experience before he would be ready for first-team action. Surprisingly, Red’s center-back Nat Phillips was also loaned out to the Cherries last season.

The Netherlands’ under-21 star, would have a strong opportunity of receiving minutes at Bournemouth, even though he might not be a regular starter under Parker, therefore it would be the perfect transfer for him.

The Cherries would be fighting to stay in the Premier League after only signing Ryan Fredericks and Joe Rothwell on free transfers. With his adaptability, a player like Van Den Berg might assist the team to cover a wide range of positions.
