Barcelona are interested in Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold
In one of the most bizarre news today, Barcelona are interested in signing Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold next summer. This is according to Futbol Total (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The report claims that the Catalunya club is targeting the 23-year-old as a major signing for the 2023 summer transfer window. They are also willing to offer €80 million for the services of the England international.
Alexander-Arnold, a Liverpool youth product is a fan favourite and this transfer happening next summer or any summer is something difficult to envision. More so, he is also a local lad who prides himself on wearing the famous red.
The player has established himself as a crucial player in Jurgen Klopp’s squad and is one of the best players in the league. The right-foot of his has the ability to unlock defences and find teammates with unerring accuracy, day in-and-out.
A phenomenal player, he can be considered a legend in the making at Liverpool. A boyhood fan, he has often spoken about how he sees himself as a one-club man. The 23-year-old has won everything there is to win with the club and became the youngest ever to do so.
Above all this, the player has expressed his dream of captaining his boyhood club. Barcelona’s interest is understandable, but this deal is something that is very unlikely to happen. Trent’s current contract is till 2025 and it will not be surprising if he isn’t offered a new one going forward.
Liverpool and Barcelona share a good history of transfers. Players like Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez have all made the switch to Spain. But given Trent has never expressed any desire to leave, it is very unlikely that the Merseyside side club will entertain any offers for the young man.
