Former Georgia International Lasha Salukvadze believes Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could move to Liverpool or Real Madrid
Speaking to MetaRatings (h/t Liverpool Echo), former Georgia international defender Lasha Salukvadze thinks that SSC Napoli winger and his countryman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could see the next big move to Real Madrid or Liverpool.
The 21-year-old left winger who joined Napoli earlier this summer has been sending waves all over Europe with his performances in the Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. He was playing for the Russian club Rubin Kazan until March 2022.
Following the war situation between Russia and Ukraine, FIFA rules allowed foreign internationals in the former country to terminate their contracts, following which Kvaratskhelia moved to the Georgian club Dinamo Batumi. After just four months at Dinamo, he made the switch to the Italian giants who still employ him presently.
Salukvadze told MetaRatings that his fellow national could see a move to Real Madrid or Liverpool. He also added that Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had his eyes set on the winger during his time at Napoli. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
“Can Khvicha move to Real Madrid next season? Ancelotti said that he looked at Kvaratskhelia when he was at Napoli, so anything is possible. It is possible that both Real Madrid and Liverpool will make offers for Kvicha. But I think it’s too early for him to move. Napoli are a very good team. He needs to play in Naples for a year or two.”
Khvicha in Great Form
The winger is in sublime form for the Italian giants across all competitions this season. In only 11 appearances, he has scored six goals and made four assists. He also featured against Liverpool this season, playing 57 minutes in Napoli’s 4-1 win against the Reds. Kvaratskhelia assisted one goal but was a menace and continuously troubled Liverpool’s back four, Joe Gomez in particular.
The 21-year-old is under contract at Napoli until 2027. The way he is playing, a big move is almost certain if he keeps up the same consistency. With Real Madrid and Liverpool already in the mix, the winger will have a huge decision to make if the clubs make their offers concrete.
As of now, Salukvadze believes that there is still time to go for him to depart from Naples and it will be premature to move so early. The former defender believes that he needs to play at Luciano Spalletti’s club for a bit longer before deciding on a move abroad.

Given how stacked Liverpool’s attack is at present, a move for Kvaratskhelia is unlikely, to say the least. But the amount of talent in the player would certainly make it difficult for the Reds to have second thoughts to sign the player. He could provide depth in the left-wing position, as the only natural player Liverpool have to play there is Luis Diaz.
