Barcelona join the race for Liverpool target Youssoufa Moukoko
Youssoufa Moukoko is becoming the talk of the town at the moment following his impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund and it looks like Liverpool will not have it easy in their pursuit of the Bundesliga teenage sensation.
Barcelona are the latest club to be linked with a move for the talented German, according to SPORT (h/t Liverpool Echo) and the Spanish club are said to have positioned itself in the race for the teenager and are keen to leapfrog the other candidates in the race.
Real Madrid and Juventus are the other two clubs to be claimed with interest in Moukoko other than Liverpool and Barcelona and it looks like a huge transfer battle is brewing for the German striker.
It is easy to understand the potential of the player when at just 17 years of age, so many top European clubs are fighting for his signature and Moukoko is one of a kind who does not come around often.
A record-breaker at such a young age, Moukoko has been really impressive in recent times for the German club and will want to continue in a similar vein. The teenager has scored six and assisted six in just 20 appearances for the club this season.
Although he is yet to win a cap for the senior team, if he keeps on putting up such numbers, it may not be long before Hansi Flick takes a punt with the teenager and picks him as the striker for the national team.
Moukoko has a contract with Dortmund until 2023 (Transfermarkt) and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. This means that the German wonderkid could be available for free come the end of the season.
Although Liverpool have a striker for the present and future in Darwin Nunez, it doesn’t hurt to sign a player of Moukoko’s quality and he can be a solid acquisition for the Reds should he choose to come here.
