Liverpool handed Jude Bellingham boost as Real Madrid reluctant to pay huge fee
Fabrizio Romano notes in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside that Liverpool could be on the receiving end of a major boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham. The 18-year-old was one of England’s best players in the World Cup.
The teenage sensation has been on the Reds’ radar ever since his move to the Bundesliga from Birmingham City in 2020. On the radar of other top European clubs, one would expect that the Reds’ chase behind Jude will come with a lot of competition.
But positive news for Liverpool emerges, with Romano covering the fact that even though Real Madrid would love to have him on board, they do not intend to pay a huge sum to Dortmund to secure the services of Bellingham.
Here is what exactly Romano said about Madrid’s interest in the player:
“It’s true that Liverpool are pushing for Jude Bellingham. Jurgen Klopp is really keen for this deal after missing out on Aurelien Tchouameni last summer, and now they are working on a deal for Bellingham on the player’s side.”
“Chelsea will try too and let’s see how serious their proposal will be. We also know Real Madrid are keen, but they have no intention to pay crazy money for this deal. They’ve had some talks with the player, but we’ll see if they pursue negotiation on the club side.”
Jude’s valuation stands at a towering figure of £131m which might be crazy for most, but not for some like Manchester City or even PSG for that matter. That being said, Madrid’s reluctance to pay a huge fee will come as a relief to the Reds who could dedicate their focus towards completing the signing of Bellingham.
Jude to the Reds
Moreover, a player of Jude’s calibre is a necessity more than a want at Liverpool. Securing the long-term future of the club as we head into a traditional period with Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner all over 31; at this time is a sensible decision.
Alongside Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones, Bellingham hopefully could form the core of the Liverpool squad for the future. Additionally, not to forget, Academy Graduates including Stefan Bajcetic, and Tyler Morton are around the scene as well.
A few inconsistent performances from the midfielders this season has made echoes of a need for a new body in the middle of the park much louder. Hopefully, top bosses at the Reds are aware of the situation and get Jude over to Anfield.

All in all, there are not plenty of midfielders who can fit the bill at Liverpool as Jude could. Hence, it is important for the Reds to get him on board, or accordingly have another player of the same skill level on their radar to sign.
