Liverpool linked with Brighton & Hove Albion’s World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister
The Reds find themselves linked with a move for another midfielder and this time, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister sees himself linked with a move to Liverpool. The 24-year-old is currently enjoying some time off the field after winning the World Cup with Argentina two weeks ago in Qatar.
According to La Repubblica (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Reds are in the mix for the player alongside Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Benfica. In 20 appearances across all competitions for both club and country, he has six goals and one assist this season, the assist coming in the World Cup final. The rest, are in the Premier League.
Mac Allister has shown versatility with both, Brighton and his national team. He can play multiple roles in midfield ranging from his natural attacking midfield role to defensive midfield as well.
Mac Allister to the Reds?
In 86 appearances for the Seagulls across various competitions, the player has 13 goals and six assists. And at only 24 years of age, Mac Allister’s best years are certainly ahead of him and he could prove to be a good addition to any team as he gives multiple options.
At £35m, he is far more affordable to the Reds, as our primary transfer targets, Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez will cost way more. However, there is no denying that Liverpool do need quality additions in the middle of the park, and that is certain.
But the fact that he was a very crucial part of Argentina’s side in the World Cup would have garnered enough attention from various clubs, and the Reds will need to act swiftly as they did for Cody Gakpo in case the interest is genuine.
