Liverpool ‘still interested’ in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are apparently still interested in signing talented Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion in this transfer window.
Caicedo, who is just 21 years old, made his debut for Brighton in January 2021 and has quickly established himself as a key player for the Seagulls. He has made 20 appearances for the club across all competitions this season scoring one goal and providing one assist.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, and Liverpool has been keeping a close eye on him for some time now. The Reds are known to be in the market for a new central midfielder, as they look to strengthen that particular region.
Caicedo has shown his versatility by playing in both central midfield and as a defensive midfielder. He impressed with his displays at the World Cup and it is clear that he has a huge future in the game.
The midfield is a region that has really haunted the Reds this season. It has been very rare to see them get a functional midfield get going during games and most of the players have received their fair share of criticism.
Fresh legs is exactly what the Liverpool midfield needs and it does not get much fresher than Caicedo. The 21-year-old is a bundle of energy and would be unbelievable for the Reds should they manage to sign him.
The likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho don’t seem to have much time left at Anfield as things stand. In the absence of reliable partners, even the ever-consistent Thiago Alcantara has struggled at times.
Putting someone like Caicedo into that midfield immediately changes the outlook and it is likely that the Reds pursue other options too. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can reach an agreement to sign the Ecuadorian.
