Arsenal confident of securing a deal for Liverpool transfer target Declan Rice
Arsenal are increasingly growing in confidence to land West Ham United skipper Declan Rice, amid the midfielder’s links with Liverpool as well. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder could come in at Merseyside as just the perfect fit amid calls for a complete overhaul of the midfield at the club.
However, if we go by Evening Standard and their latest report via ECHO, it seems that Arsenal could soon have their man on board. Rice’s contract at The Hammers expires in 2024 (Transfermarkt) and it is likely that he leaves on a substandard fee given he would enter the final 12 months of his contract.
The fact that they are presently in the lead when it comes to the title race and almost certain that Mikel Arteta’s men could win the league, in that sense, the management at The Emirates believes that Rice could want to move to North London.
Liverpool, on the other hand, could do with Rice’s services more than Arsenal. The Reds have certainly been struggling in midfield this season, with injuries to key players leaving them short on options. Jurgen Klopp has had to rely heavily on the likes of James Milner and Jordan Henderson, both of whom are in the latter stages of their careers.
Will Declan move this summer?
Speaking of Rice, he has proven himself to be a reliable and consistent performer in the Premier League and would be a valuable addition to any squad. Liverpool could certainly use his energy and dynamism in midfield, and his ability to break up play and start attacks could prove to be a key asset for the Reds.
With all due respect, the player’s extremely high ceiling is proving to be high-maintenance for a club like West Ham and it is most likely that the player could move clubs at the end of this season. As earlier mentioned, nothing better for Liverpool than somebody like Rice joining the Merseysiders.
While Arsenal may be growing in confidence over a deal for Rice, Liverpool should not give up their pursuit of the midfielder just yet. Rice would be a perfect fit for the Reds and could provide the defensive cover they need to mount a serious title challenge next season.
With Jurgen Klopp at the helm and a rich history to offer, Liverpool could certainly be an attractive destination for Rice as he looks to take his career to the next level.
