Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says a top-four finish is not on his mind
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, ahead of the crunch league fixture against current leaders Arsenal, spoke about how he is not concerned about a top-four finish at the moment.
The Reds currently find themselves in the eighth spot on the league charts, 29 points behind Mikel Arteta’s men. With the top two spots almost certain with Manchester City also playing amazing football at the moment, Liverpool only have two spots to aim for.
The game against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday is probably the toughest of all fixtures for the Reds in the final few games of the season. And at such a time, Klopp saying that he doesn’t stand concerned is surprising but could be a ploy to take the pressure off his players.
Here is what he said via ECHO:
“It is not about what I could consider [as a good finish], it is about what we get,”
“I don’t know where we will end up. I don’t know. What I know is that we have to go through this. That’s it, that’s what I know. And then there will be a new start naturally because it’s a new season.”
Including the game against the Gunners, there are ten games to play in the season and the rest of the fixtures certainly carry challenges of their own. Even though Klopp doesn’t want to talk about it, a top-four finish would obviously be the top priority for the German.
The Reds would certainly be desperate to prove a point after their goalless draw against Chelsea away from home. Returning to Anfield, the players would hope to put a smile on the faces of the fans in what has been a disappointing season so far.
It has obviously been a tough season to comprehend for the fans and the players alike and the least they can do from this stage onwards is put 100% effort in getting the best possible results in each of the league games.

The game against Arsenal is followed by a visit to Leeds. The Reds would certainly have revenge on their minds when they face the Midlanders as the reverse fixture at Anfield saw the visitors win late after a scrappy goal.
