Young Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah signs a new deal with the club
Jarell Quansah, who has been at Liverpool since the age of five, signs a new contract with the club to extend his stay.
Quansah is an Academy product who has progressed through age groups since his very early days. He was the captain of the U18 side that reached the FA Cup Final in 2021.
He was in the England U19 team that lifted the European Champions League last year, scoring a crucial goal in the semi-final of that competition. He is also a part of the Three Lions squad to take part in the U20 World Cup in Argentina in a week’s time.
Quansah, 20, went on loan to Bristol Rovers in January and made 16 appearances in League One. He is a tall, right-footed centre-back with decent attributes for a young defender.
The Warrington-born player is physically strong, can pass the ball well, is good at reading the game and is developing his game nicely.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is never shy of handing opportunities to young players. This new contract may help Quansah is progressing further as a player and attract the attention of the German’s eye in the training ground or a youth game.
After all, we have seen the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones come through the Academy and do well for the senior team, especially the former.
If Quansah is focused on his goal at Liverpool, he should get the chance in the first team to showcase his qualities. Let’s hope that moment comes sooner rather than later.
