Liverpool are interested in signing as an alternative to Jude Bellingham
As per a tweet from Christian Falk of Bild Sport, Liverpool are in talks with the management of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone over a possible move this summer.
It is also revealed that Kone could be an alternative signing to Jude Bellingham. A few weeks ago, the Reds pulled out of the transfer race to sign the England international despite keeping a long-standing interest in him.
Kone, on the other hand, is an exceptional young midfielder who currently plays for Monchengladbach having joined them in the summer of 2021. He was a youth product at Toulouse before making his senior debut there.
The 22-year-old is a versatile midfield player who can operate anywhere across the central regions of the field. If we talk about this season, out of the 31 appearances in all competitions, Kone played 24 as a central midfielder and six as a defensive midfielder. A solo game as a number 10 too (Transfermarkt).
The Frenchman is strong in passing, dribbling past people on the ball, making tackles and being concentrated in all departments of his game.
Looking at his numbers, Kone delivered passes with an accuracy rate of 87.3% in the Bundesliga this season. He also completed 1.9 dribbles, 2.5 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per game [Whoscored].
The former Toulouse player has all the tools to become an excellent player for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. It remains to be seen what sort of a fee Monchengladbach will demand for his sale.

If it is in the range, the Reds should leave no stone unturned in their pursuit to sign Kone. He is young and full of quality and would walk into the current midfield we have, in fact, be a natural upgrade in one of the number eight positions.
