Liverpool continue midfield rebuild with eyes on Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram
Liverpool FC’s midfield reconstruction is well underway following the acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. The Reds officially confirmed the signing of the Argentine midfielder on a five-year deal.
With Mac Allister secured, Jurgen Klopp and newly-appointed sporting director Jorg Schmadtke are determined to further bolster their midfield options and keeping that in mind, Liverpool consider Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone, as potential additions to the squad. (h/t ECHO)
This summer transfer window represents an important opportunity for Liverpool to rebuild their midfield following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on free transfers.
The lack of quality midfielders meant that the Reds could only finish in fifth place securing Europa League football for next season. However, even with that, the Merseysiders continue to attract the best players in the league and from abroad and that should not be a roadblock in the Reds’ pursuit of top-class talent.
French midfield at the Reds?
Klopp would hope for all of his players to arrive before the pre-season begins so that they remain brushed on all of the German’s requirements. July 8th is when the Reds begin their pre-season campaign and it would be wise of the club to get all targets on board before that.
One thing is for certain which is Liverpool fans can anticipate further developments as Klopp and Schmadtke carefully evaluate their options and make informed decisions in their quest to rebuild a formidable midfield unit.
The combination of Mac Allister’s arrival and the potential signings of Thuram and Kone showcases the club’s ambition to assemble a well-rounded and talented midfield.
The realization to bring on board midfielders came late, but, glad it did. The Reds could now hope to into the next season with a strong and formidable bench and get their hands on some trophies.
