Liverpool could test Juventus waters by making a £30m offer to sign Federico Chiesa
As per Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool will test Juventus waters by making a £30m offer to sign Italian international Federico Chiesa this summer.
The report reveals that Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also interested in the player whose future in Turin is doubtful.
Since starring in Italy’s success during the Euros 2021, Chiesa has missed a lot of games for Juventus. He has missed a total of 62 games in the last two seasons (2021/22 and 2022/23), which is a lot for a player who was reaching the peak of his career following success on the international stage.
The 25-year-old is a versatile forward who can play on either wing or as a number nine. He has got great pace, excellent finishing ability, and good technical value to his game.
But, regardless of the fact that Chiesa might be available for a price affordable by Liverpool, he should not be a transfer priority for the Reds in the summer transfer window.
The club spent a lot of money in bolstering the forward line in the last three windows. Now, it is time to spend most of the budget on buying top midfielders and probably add a defender or two as well.
They have made a good start by acquiring the services of Alexis Mac Allister. More needs to be done on that note to make sure Jurgen Klopp has a more than decent squad to work with when the pre-season starts next month.

Lastly, even if Liverpool are insistent on getting Chiesa, his injury record of the preceding two seasons isn’t encouraging (numbers mentioned above). The last thing Klopp would want is another injury-prone player after the departure of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
