Liverpool have a quartet of players shortlisted in case Fabinho leaves this summer
The Reds have on their radar four transfer targets in case Fabinho decides to take up the offer from Saudi Arabia and leave Liverpool.
According to multiple members of the national press via Liverpool ECHO, the Reds have on their radar, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, Bayern’s Ryan Gravenberch, Man City’s Kalvin Phillips and Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat to replace the potentially outgoing Fabinho.
The inclusion of these young and talented midfielders demonstrates Liverpool’s proactive approach to finding a suitable replacement for Fabinho in case he’s no longer with the club. The club’s scouting network and management explore various options to ensure depth in the centre of the pitch.
The likes of Lavia and Gravenberch represent the youth and the Reds would have in a way, secured their long-term futures if they decide and go ahead with pursuing these two players. However, the problems arise as Southampton demand £45m for their midfielder. And for Gravenberch, the Dutchman has always maintained that he wants to fight for a place at Bavaria and has no intentions of leaving the club.
Midfielders galore on the Radar
As far as Amrabat is concerned, the player’s excellent performances for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup meant that the Fiorentina man saw himself on the Reds’ radar since December and was probably very close to making a move to the Reds in the January window itself. While he is not so youthful, at 26, he is at the peak of his physical fitness and could probably make an instant impact at the Reds.
As far as Phillips is concerned, he moved to Man City only in the last summer window and injury issues meant that the player could not establish himself in the Starting XI. At 27, the player is just a tad bit too old for the Reds to invest a significant amount into.
Liverpool’s ability to identify and secure the right replacement for Fabinho will be crucial to their future success. The chosen player will need to seamlessly integrate into Jurgen Klopp’s system and contribute effectively to the team’s playing style.
