Former Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in talks with Besiktas
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is actively exploring his next career move following his departure from Liverpool. The midfielder, whose contract with the Reds came to an end last season, is currently a free agent and engaged in discussions with Besiktas.
Recent speculation had linked him with a potential move to Aston Villa. Even clubs from Saudi Arabia expressed interest in his services.
However, Sky Sports via ECHO now indicate that Ox is ‘in talks’ with Besiktas. The president of Besiktas reportedly met with Oxlade-Chamberlain at a London hotel to discuss the potential move. The club is making efforts to convince him to join their ranks.
Besiktas’ interest adds a new dimension to Oxlade-Chamberlain’s post-Liverpool journey, as he considers his options for the next phase of his career. 146 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, and this number could’ve been much higher if the player was not as injury prone as he is.
While it is truly sad that his time at the Reds was far from ideal for him, his contributions during his spell at the club have brought the club tremendous success and for us fans, loads of memories. Who can ever forget that 2017/18 UCL campaign and the goal against Manchester City?
The midfielder’s experience and skills certainly make him an asset for any team, and his potential move to Besiktas signifies the pursuit of a new chapter in his footballing journey.
While nothing is official yet, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s negotiations with Besiktas hopefully end up in him securing a move.
